በያዝነው ዓመት የሚከናወነው 6ኛው አገራዊ ምርጫ በ2010 ዓ.ም የተጀመረው የፖለቲካ ለውጥ ስር እንዲሰድ እንዲሁም በሀገራችን ዴሞክራሲያዊ ሥርዓት ለመገንባት ለሚደረገው ጥረት ወሳኝ እርምጃ ነው። የኢትዮጵያ የሲቪል ማህበራት ድርጅቶች ህብረት ለምርጫ ከአባል ድርጅቶቹ የተውጣጡ ታዛቢዎች መልምሎ በማሰልጠንና የምርጫ ሂደቱ አካታች፣ ግልፅ እንዲሁም ተዓማኒነት ያለው መሆኑን እንዲታዘቡ በማድረግ ለመጪው ምርጫ የበኩሉን አስተዋፅኦ በማድረግ ላይ ይገኛል።
በኢትዮጵያ ብሄራዊ ምርጫ ቦርድ በቀረበለት ግብዣ መሰረት የአትዮጵያ ሲቪል ማህበራት ድርጅቶች ጥምረት ለምርጫ ጊዜያዊ አስተባባሪ ከሚቴ የሲቪል ማህረሰብ ድርጅቶችን በማሰተባበር እና በመምራት ህዳር 10 ቀን 2012 ዓ.ም የተካሄደውን የሲዳማ ህዝባ ውሳኔን ታዝቧል፡፡
Upon the invitation from the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), the Interim Coordinating Committee of the Coalition of the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations for Election (CECOE), (by mobilizing and coordinating civil society organizations,) observed the Sidama Referendum which was conducted on November 20, 2019. At least three reasons are attributable to the uniqueness of the Coalition involvement in the Sidama referendum observation.
